His Story of History

The Truth shall set you free. This notion is not subjective because it has a profound meaning which is universal to all human beings. And without further ado, I must introduce you, the audience, reader, et cetera, to the truth.

You may not know him as the truth, because bad publicity has, essentially, give him a bad rap. Although this man is a good rapper, hip-hop culture vultures and money-hungry record company pimps sneer at rappers such as these because of the truth-seeking nature of their music. “Nature of the Threat” is the omen I wish to present to you, and Ras Kass is the seer who will unleash this beast.

First, please heed the words of W.E.B Dubois: “In the first place, somebody in each era must make clear the facts with utter disregard to his own wish and desire and belief. What we have got to know, so far as possible, are the things that actually happened in the world. Then with that much clear and open to every reader, the philosopher and prophet has a chance to interpret these facts; and until we distinguish between these two functions of the chronicler of human action, we are going to render it easy for a muddled world out of sheer ignorance to make the same mistake ten times over (Dubois, Proganda of History).”

Dubois’ words are a good supplement to the objective of “Nature of the Threat.” The purpose of this track is to make the history of racism privy to those who are intentionally deprived. The quote implies that what the masses knew of history is rather biased. This level of partiality can only breed more misgivings and human folies in the future, which we had an opportunity to learn from in the past. W.E.B. Dubois’ Propaganda of World History, and Ras Kass’ “Nature of the Threat” expose this inherent human contradiction.

In his scriptures Ras Kass talks about how the origins of Thanksgiving, Christmas, etc., were all part of a Eurocentric conditioning used to make the world perceive one race as superior. Ras Kass does not hold back, or bite his tongue, especially on these verses about Greek society:

“The word gymnasium is Greek for “naked”
This was the place where adolescent boys were educated, and molested
This was accepted because Greek culture was homosexual
For example, Sappho trained girls on the island of Lesbos
Hence, the word lesbian (Ay let these dumb motherfuckers know)
December 25th, the birth of Saturn
A homosexual god, now check the historical pattern
December 25, now thought the birth of Christ
Was Saturnalia, when men got drunk,
fucked each other then beat their wife
Fact is, it was still practiced, til they called it Christmas
So put a gerbil on your Christmas list”

Ras Kass’ West coast drawl and thorough-bred breath control over the sound of a lingering bell, blended with a strong, but basic bass line, give us the additional ingredients to the food for thought we now know as “Nature of the Threat.” This song threatens the pretense we have as Americans that what we’ve been told is essentially the truth.

Maybe it’s actually all lies. One things for sure, we were not told the whole story. Human growth, individually, or collectively, depends on the truth, the whole truth and nothing but. Henceforth, let’s promote human progress and growth, the type of growth that will bring us all closer to the “Kingdom of Heaven.”

One Response to “His Story of History”

Props Thursday for a powerful and provocative post. It should always be on the mind to question authority and question that which is deemed “Truth.” If we believe everything we are told is True, then we are merely becoming ignorant sheep of a mindless flock. The greatest aspect of humanity is the abiity to discover within ourselves what WE consider to be true. Only you know what is right in your heart. I applaud your effort to bring forth a great and powerful song. Keep up the posts. Your quality is shown through your quantity. Hopefully your post will open the minds and eyes of those who read it.
